On Tuesday, December 10, 2013, the counselors and mental health staff will be in the 7th grade Science classrooms presenting the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program. This is a nationally known program used district wide to help educate students around the signs and symptoms of depression. This program is an effort to help train students to identify serious depression and potential suicidality in themselves or a friend. As we have seen a growing trend throughout the country, we want to be proactive in educating our students around seeking support. The big theme is Acknowledge, Care, and Tell (ACT), and we hope to empower our students to be aware of issues that may be impacting them or their peers.
Students will be bringing home more information about this event. You may also review the information being sent home, by clicking on the document below.
